Ambassador Qu Zhe pays a farewell call on Estonian Speaker of Parliament

On 8 December, the Chinese Ambassador to Estonia Mr. Qu Zhe paid a farewell call on the President of the Riigikogu of Estonia H.E. Eiki Nestor.

The Ambassador gave a brief overview of the bilateral relations in recent years. He said the relationship between China and Estonia is developing in a good momentum and both sides have had successful cooperation in various fields. “In addition to cooperation at bilateral level, our two countries also have had good cooperation within 16+1 format and we warmly welcome Estonia to join the Belt and Road Initiative, which will open many doors for mutually beneficial cooperation in the years ahead”, said the Ambassador. He pointed out that both countries should take the opportunities offered by the 6th Meetings of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries in Budapest, Hungary and join forces to realize the outcomes so as to expand cooperation and bring more benefits to businesses and peoples in both countries.

The Ambassador was satisfied that the National People’s Congress of China and the Riigikogu of Estonia have kept frequent exchanges and contacts in recent years. He stressed that these exchanges have played an important role in promoting mutual understanding, enhance mutual trust and share useful experiences between the two legislatures. The Ambassador thanked the Speaker for his support to the bilateral relations and hoped the two legislatures will enhance their exchanges so as to maintain the sound and steady relationship between the two countries and make more contributions to practical cooperation in all fields.

The Speaker agreed with the Ambassador for his appraisal of bilateral relations. He appreciated the Ambassador for his work in promoting win-win cooperation between the two countries. The Speaker said Estonia attaches great importance to the relations with China. The Estonian parliament is willing to strengthen exchanges and contacts with the National People’s Congress of China, which will help lawmakers of both sides to enhance mutual understanding and share experience, said the Speaker.
