GACC delegation visits Estonia

During a four-day visit to Estonia from 19th to 21st June, a delegation headed by Vice Minister Zhang Jiwen of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) met with Minister of Rural Affairs, Mr. Mart Järvik and DG of Tax and Customs Board, Mr. Valdur Laid.

A memorandum of understanding concerning export and import food safety was signed at the meeting with Estonian Ministry of Rural Affairs, the two counterparts exchanged views on the export to China of Estonian agricultural products like herring, dairy, poultry, salmon, cod, cereal and beef. They also talked about the possibilities to establish a cooperation mechanism on plant quarantine and food safety.

As to the meeting with Estonian Tax and Customs Board, the two parts discussed the issues on the bilateral customs cooperation, the implementation of AEO mutual recognition, the participation in the Secure and Smart Trade Line Pilot Program and the anti-smuggling cooperation under the framework of China-EU customs cooperation.

The GACC delegation also visited Estonian poultry and dairy establishments as well as a beef cattle farm during their visit in Estonia.

The Chinese Ambassador to Estonia H.E. Mr. Li Chao met with Vice Minister Zhang Jiwen and the delegation members, and gave a brief introduction of the current bilateral relations development between China and Estonia.
