Estonian-Chinese Open Friendship Championships in Wushu Kungfu kicks off in Tallinn

On 21 September,2019, in order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the opening ceremony of the Estonian-Chinese Open Friendship Championships in Wushu Kungfu, co-organized by the Chinese Embassy in Tallinn and Estonian Sports and Traditional Wushu Federation, kicked off in Tallinn.

President of Estonian Sports and Traditional Wushu Federation,Mr. Priit Korve, Chinese Ambassador to Estonia, Mr. Li Chao and Mayor of Tallinn, Mr. Mihhail Kolvart attended the opening ceremony and respectively delivered speeches.

Ambassador Li spoke positively of the efforts made by the Estonian Sports and Traditional Wushu Federation to bring Chinese martial arts closer to the Estonian public. Ambassador Li hoped that the participants could appreciate Chinese traditional culture through practicing martial arts. Ambassador Li wish all the participants getting good results and the event a great success.

The event attracted around 110 participants from Estonia,Latvia, Lithuania and Spain. The participants compete in different groups according to gender and age. During the opening ceremony, a traditional dragon and lion dancing, Wushu performance and song singing were performed, which won rounds of applause from the audience.
