Chinese Lanterns illuminate the night of Tallinn

On December 5th, the Chinese Ambassador to Estonia H.E. Mr. Li Chao hosted a reception for the opening ceremony of the Chinese Lantern Festival and attended the organizer's startup ceremony of the Festival. Around 100 Guests from all walks of life in Estonia attend the event.

Ambassador Li delivered a speech at the reception to congratulate the opening of the Chinese Lantern Festival and indicated that, in Chinese culture, lantern represented people's expectation for a happy life. "I am very happy to invite you to enjoy the lanterns together today. Cultural exchange is one of the highlights of our fast developing bilateral relations. I hope that, in the future, there will be more and more cultural exchanges such as this Lantern Festival between China and Estonia. I believe that the lantern show will surely light out the road ahead where we will march hand in hand." Ambassador Li said.

After the reception, Ambassador Li accompanied the guests to enjoy acrobatic performances and the lanterns. The Lantern Festival will be open from December 6th, 2019 to January 12th, 2020 in the famous Tallinn song festival grounds. There are 25 sets of lanterns which are a subtle blend of Chinese elements with Western culture. Among the lanterns, there are a 40-meter-long Chinese dragon, animals in different shapes, colorful underwater world, cute zodiac signs, a giant blue and white porcelain vase as well as the Santa Claus and churches. The guests were impressed by the magnificent lanterns.
