2020/01/13

Mrs. Sun Peng, Chinese Ambassador's wife, hosted at her residence more than 20 children from the SOS Children's Village, together with members of the Embassy Women's Club on 3 January 2020, celebrating the New Year and experiencing Chinese traditional culture.

Mrs. Sun Peng expressed her pleasure to regather with the lovely children from SOS children's Village and her willingness to understand children's expectations for the new year. " I also would like to take this opportunity to let you know about Chinese traditional culture, as well as the rapid development of China today. I hope you will have chances to visit China yourself, climb the Great Wall, walk in the Forbidden City and enjoy delicious Chinese food." Mrs. Sun added.

Mr. Margus Oro, the Managing Director of Estonia SOS Children's Village, thanked the Chinese Embassy for kind assistance and hospitality over the years. To express his congratulations on the completion of Chinese Ambassador's new residence, Mr. Oro also presented Mrs. Sun with gifts of kitchen cutting boards and seasonings, following the Estonian celebration tradition for new homes.

A variety of activities were held on the spot. The children from SOS Children's Village and the children from Chinese Embassy families presented holiday songs and music performance, Chinese calligraphy and paper folding. They also practiced Chinese hand-made dumplings. Activities saw its climax when children and staffs of SOS Children's Village sang a song together at last to express their sincere New Year wishes to the Embassy staffs.

Before the end of the activity, Ms. Sun presented the children with food and sports gear as New Year gifts, wishing them good life and healthy growth.

The Estonian SOS Children's Village is a non-profit organization founded in 1994, providing for 600 unsupported children in Estonia.
