The 11th "Happy Spring Festival" temple fair was successfully held in Tallinn

On January 19, 2020, the 11th "Happy Spring Festival" temple fair, jointly organized by the City Government of Beijing and Tallinn, was held in Vabaduse Square in the downtown of Tallinn, the Capital city of Estonia. The Chinese Ambassador to Estonia H.E. Mr. Li Chao and the Mayor of Tallinn Mr. Mihhail KÕlvart attended the event and extended their New Year greetings respectively. Mayor KÕlvart spoke highly of the exchanges and cooperation between Tallinn and Beijing. He said that the "Happy Spring Festival" became more and more popular among the Tallinn citizens and Spring Festival had become a festival celebrated together both by Chinese and Estonian. Mayor KÕlvart wished everyone a happy Chinese new year of Rat. Ambassador Li Chao said that "Happy Spring Festival" had become an important window for Estonian to understand China and an interactive platform for the cultural exchange between China and Estonia, which promoted the mutual understanding of the two peoples. Ambassador Li pointed out that cultural exchanges, which could not be separated from the overall development of bilateral relations, was also a booster for bilateral relations. The friendship between the two peoples would be deepened and the friendly relations between the two countries would move forward through high-quality cultural exchanges.

On that day, the crowds of Vabaduse Square enjoyed Chinese snacks, calligraphy engravings, ice and clay rat sculptures and read about the information about Beijing tourism and the Winter Olympics, experiencing China's rich cultural heritage and the modern city construction. When the high-level performances kicked off on the stage of Vabaduse Square, everyone was deeply attracted at once by the Peking opera, dance, singing, etc. Audiences immersed themselves in the performances and pushed the atmosphere of the temple fair to a new height. After the performance, many Tallinn citizens still stayed on the scene.

The "Happy Spring Festival" also includes series events held in Tallinn, such as "Charming Beijing" tourism promotion meeting, Beijing Spring Festival folk culture lecture, exchange activity between Beijing Opera Vocational College and Estonian Academy of Music and Drama, etc.
