Ambassador Qu Zhe addresses at the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Estonian Open Wing Chun Championship

Organized by the Estonian Sports and Traditional Wushu Federation, the 2nd Estonian Open Wing Chun Championship kicked-off in Tallinn on 6 December 2015. At the invitation of the President of the federation, Mr. Priit Kõrve, the Chinese Ambassador to Estonia, H.E. Mr. Qu Zhe, attended the opening ceremony of the tournament. In his remarks, Ambassador Qu expressed his warm congratulations on the tournament and commended the Estonian Sports and Traditional Wushu Federation for its dedication to bringing Chinese martial arts and culture closer to the Estonian public. Ambassador Qu said he was impressed by the enthusiasm of the Wing Chun practitioners and encouraged them to understand the Chinese culture which was embedded within the martial arts.

     

More than 70 Wing Chun practitioners from Estonia, Russia, Finland participated in the tournament. They were separated into different groups for competition according to their gender, age and qualifications. During the opening ceremony, a traditional lion dancing was performed, which won rounds of applause from the audience.
